PITTSBURGH LOCAL MUSIC TRACKER
Pittsburgh Local Music Tracker (@pghmusictracker on instagram) is resource for finding which gigs are happening nightly in Pittsburgh. I created the account in February 2022 for my own purposes at first after I found myself losing track of which events were happen when in our robust music scene, and being unable to relocate flyers that were only posted in artists’ stories. Since then, the account has amassed over 2000 followers in a year without any promotion and has became a tool used by many avid concerts-goers in Pittsburgh. I’ve expanded beyond posting nightly shows and began making monthly charts listing dozens of upcoming gigs and local music releases, as well as doing seasonal music reviews.
If you want to submit your shows and music to be included in upcoming charts and be considered for reviews, the best way is to DM @pghmusictracker on instagram. Alternatively, you can send an email to UnderstatementPA@gmail.com. I only have a few rules:
1. Music from and shows with outed abusers will not be posted.
2. Shows must take place within Allegheny County. The one exception are shows happening in New Kensington (such as at Preserving Underground).
3. When submitting a flyer to be posted, it must be an actual flyer with a date, time, and location listed.
4. For music submissions, singles will only be accepted if they’re released on major streaming platforms, like Apple Music and Spotify. Music released only on Bandcamp, SoundCloud, and/or YouTube must be an EP or album.

Please note that these lists are made at the beginning of every month and are in no way meant to be exhaustive. More shows are always announced after I post these, lineups are subject to change, and being only human I might have misread your grindcore band’s logo. Sorry.

I’m not the only one who tracks Pittsburgh local music. The idea of these monthly charts was inspired by the wonderful Brett Schumaker of the Don’t Let The Scene Go Down On Me! Collective. I always reference his chart before making mine. You can find him on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook.
Hugh Twyman, who runs the fantastic HughShows Live at Just-Records podcast has a website featuring a calendar full of Pittsburgh music events. Unlike our charts, Hugh’s monthly calendar is updated with new shows frequently.
